➤Are you aware of Daniel Ferguson? He is one of many who have tragically lost their lives through recreational use of drugs taken for the first time. Do you believe that if he was properly educated the outcome would have been different?
These are the style questions I will be asking the police officer I am interviewing, if he says something I find interesting in answering these questions I may ask him to elaborate on it, meaning the flow of questions may change. i am not sticking to these as a script but they will be a good guidance for the both of us.
Shot types and set up
The shot type i will be using for my first interview will be a close-up / medium close-up, the shoulders will be visible and there should be a height of 2 fingers showing above their head.8
I will be sat to the right hand side of the camera set up, I will ask the interviewee to look at me when answering questions the whole time and not directly into the camera lens. This makes it slightly less formal than looking straight into the sense and also will put the interviewee at ease as it will feel like a conversation with me.
I will be shooting my first interview in the Police stationing Kings Lynn. I feel that it ties in well with my documentary but also is an easy place for the both of us. I would have liked the background to be with people walking past etc however this would not be possible due to the quality of sound i need - with lots of people walking and muttering in the background it would effect this. Therefore instead it will potentially be in an office, to still let people realise it is in a police station but without the usual hustle and bustle.
Planing Documents
There is evidence of good planning here Molly, you have demonstrated planning for an interview by coming up with some interesting question personalised to the interviewee. Although be aware of closed questions such as “Has the use of illegal drugs in norfolk increased in the past five years?” and “How many drug arrests have been made in norfolk over the past five years?”, they wont give you much information and you should always follow them with an open question such as, "why do you think this?"
